Report from Georgi Opreanu,
Director of
Elderly Care

Prayer answered ....

As I begin to write this report I am looking in my notebook at different dates that I note different verses from the Bible. For August 6th I wrote Matthew 19:26 "…With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." Of course as time passed I forgot about doing this. I remembered it around July 20th when I received a letter from the Social Inspection department about the Accreditation process for Oradea Elderly Centre and I had to make a note that the inspection starts on August 6.

The story starts in March when I was told by the Inspection department that comes to assess if the services are according to the legal requirements. They said I will not get the accreditation because of some "technical" problems with the name of the building. Under the new law we can’t function without this accreditation and the project could be closed if we can’t get it.

So…I start to pray about this problem that I didn’t know about when we opened in October. I prayed, but many times I was discouraged, feeling I am fighting a lost battle already. I didn’t have the courage to share all my worries with those around me…not to discourage them and stress them.

So I start to pray even harder, did all the paper, send them to Bucharest and wait for an answer. Meanwhile I had another inspection and when they left the site they told me everything is good in the way we operate and apply the law, but because of this technical problem, they didn’t believe we will ever receive from Bucharest a positive response to our request. For a second I was discouraged, but then I decided to take the "risk" and tell them that I start praying about this problem every day since I found out about it…of course, they look at me without believing God will answer my prayer. Now I was not just worrying that I will not receive the accreditation, but also that they will laugh at me "if" God will not answer my prayer and tell me that not even my God can do something about this.

After a while I realised this is not my fight, it is God’s work that I am doing and He is fighting for me…for the Smiles work. When I received from Bucharest a phone call saying that I got temporary accreditation for a year I realised once again…we need to do our part, work hard, pray, never give up and God will always do His part.

The first hurdle was past, now 2 inspectors for Bihor Social Services had to come and inspect the 114 stated legal requirements and see if we complete all of them. Based on their report we can maintain the accreditation and extend for 5 years if all the standards are respected, or they can redraw the temporary accreditation. When I put in my diary the date they will start the inspection and saw the verse, I realise that God is in control. He knew at the beginning of the year the date the inspection will start and the encouragement I will need in this difficult process.

Now, we have accreditation for 5 years, because "…With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." God taught me a lesson, once again, to never under estimate the power of prayer and never be ashamed to tell others about my faith in God and His answer to the prayer…will come at the right moment!

After 4 days, when the inspection was finished, and we got the maximum point that we could get, I told to the inspectors, that this accreditation is an answer to prayer and one of them remembered that I told her I will pray for it…but she told me she didn’t believe at that point that I mean it and I trust in God’s help.

What a great God we have, He will never let shame come on those who trust in Him!

If you know about all our work, you know about "Doris" Centre in Salonta, will also need accreditation … and another miracle is needed. You know the problems with the neighbour and the file was rejected from Bucharest because of this problem. This time, please partner with me in prayer and together we will see another miracle. I don’t know how God will resolve this problem, but one thing I know. HE WILL!!!

I want to finish my report encouraging you…never give up on what you are doing if it’s God’s work, no matter how hard it is, He will be faithful to the end!!!!

My God bless all your work and answer to all your prayers according to His Grace.
