Tileagd Children’s Choir Tour
United Kingdom – February 2009
Special Report
|
|
Another
wonderful Tour for the Choir, the Supporters and for The Smiles
Foundation. Having completed 5 previous UK tours and 2 American tours,
we might come to expect a particular format or programme – but this
year – the first full UK Tour without Honorary Trustee Nia sharing the
stage, the Choir had to hold the 2 hour presentation on their own. And
what an amazing job they did! |
|
So many wonderful comments from people who had
supported the Choir for many years were saying ‘The Best Ever’ –
‘A Wonderful Concert’ – ‘It brought all my memories of
Romania flooding back’. |
 |
 |
|
The programme was a constant mix
of Music, Dance, Testimony, Video and PowerPoint presentations to
explain in more detail the opportunities available to help the work in
Romania continue.
The worship songs demonstrated how significant the Tileagd Community
Church has become in the lives of the children. Singing the songs with
passion and meaning – the children truly lifted up the ‘Light of the
World’.
|
|
Traditional
Gypsy dance was bright, colourful, energetic and inspiring to see
how the mix of cultures can blend so well and produce great results.
The Gypsy dancing contrasted with the elegance of the 4’50”
presentation of the Vienna Waltz which endeared the children to
everyone’s heart. |
|
|
|
Personal
testimony from Guiry Rostas of the miraculous impact God has
had on the Gypsy Community in Tileagd through Smiles, not only
in Education and Health but a Spiritual transformation that has now
had 7 baptisms in Tileagd Community Church and several more
being planned for 2009.
Maria Cimpoca, Director of Operations, held the presentation
together with stories from Romania and introductions to several of the
songs. |
|
Octavia
Cimpoca, Choir Director, did a great job in presenting the Choir
in what many said was their best performance ever.
Chief Executive, Kevin Hoy, presented the report on the
wonderful events of 2008, with particular focus on the Tileagd Complex
Grand Opening – giving God all the Glory for making the Impossible, a
Reality. Kevin also introduced the new Smiles Clubs for Sponsorship
including the brand new Hi 5 Club – launched only this past month.

Our sincere thanks to the Drivers
on the road who covered thousands of miles – John Rush
(Mini-Bus) and Ilie Cimpoca (Van); Dawn and Nina
at the Leeds Office for holding together all the logistics,
arrangements and finances.
And our Biggest Thanks to all the Concert
Organisers, Hosts and Supporters who did such a fine job in making the
2009 UK Tour ‘One of the Best’.
Over £41,000 ($60,000) has been raised with new sponsorships for the
Smiles Clubs continuing to arrive every day.
Thank you all so very much. |
