Gepiu Children's Centre
Official Opening
Wednesday October 25th, 2006
|
|

The excited children and villagers gathered
together outside of the Centre for Pastor Ilie Cimpoca to open the proceedings with a Bible Reading
and with a prayer for those who had worked to make today a reality,
and those who would work at the centre and everyone in the village who
would be blessed by the Centre. |
|
Kevin Hoy, Chief Executive of The Smiles Foundation, explained that
the 4 ribbons represented what can be achieved when we work together.
The yellow, red & blue for Romania, overlapping with the red, white
and blue of both the UK and USA flags. |
|
Adrian Pogue from Radio Cracker, Ballymena, Northern Ireland, who have supported the project, joined Mihai, Kevin and the Mayor of Gepiu in cutting the ribbon and
declaring the centre offiically open. |
|

The guests were invited to
look around the facility and Smiles staff, Mission Trippers, the Gepiu
team, villagers as well as the construction team and visitors from the
Tileagd Community all came together to celebrate this new chapter in
Gepiu's history. |
|
The classrooms at Gepiu are quite a change from
the dining room table at Mihai & Adriana's house and will allow an
expanded programme of activities for the young people. |
|
Although a Children's Centre, the facilities
will be used by the whole community including regular meals for the
elderly, some of whom are pictured here with Kevin. |
