 Report from Gepiu Community Centre
                                                                                    Oct 08

These days we’ve been thinking of the discipleship that Moses did with Joshua. It’s like a relay run. You see, in a relay run, you’ve got two runners, and one baton. There are several stages. The first runner runs by himself. Then they both run. They pass the baton from one to the other, and then the second runner runs by himself.

At first, Moses led the people through the wilderness all by himself. Then for a short period of time he took Joshua along side, he gave him the prerogatives to lead the future generation, and at last Joshua led the people through divine grace.

If there is one thing that we want to accomplish in Gepiu it will be: young people with Godly hearts and with a strong desire to lead. To lead people to Christ, to lead generations and generations of struggling families out of poverty, to lead communities with a strong sense of
selfless concern for the welfare of others, and to lead the Church of God.

This is why we started the autumn meetings of the youth group, with a study on doctrines and their practical implications in our life. Also we have been creating - all kinds of cards (Christmas, Anniversary, Birthdays, Birth) - that Linda our missionary from Maryland, USA, will take back home and hopefully they’ll have an impact. It is said that a teenager has a strong desire to feel useful so we gave them good reasons J (they helped clean the courtyard and garden in the new Gepiu leaders house).

We had work to give to the kids that come to the after school program. They helped moving the corn we’ve harvest this fall in the corn bin.

It’s always about shaping characters, and as we well know it’s not only information we pass to the next generation, it’s a way of thinking, a way of acting, and a new way of seeing life. Hopefully, last but not least, is a new life in Christ.

We appreciate your help to be character modelers!
