It wasn’t just the UK Tour of
the Tileagd Choir that was a huge success through-out the UK in February
(see Report) – Smiles Supporter,
Michael Falconer found some success of his own following the Choir’s
visit to St John’s Church, Walton. Chesterfield.
Mike Falconer has been a supporter of The Smiles Foundation for
many years, but for even more years, he’s been a member of Bolsover
Camera Club. The Club was formed in 1951 and is affiliated through
the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation to the
Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. 28 members of the Bolsover
Club meet every Friday night at Hillstown Community Centre in
Bolsover.
The
purpose of the club is to provide a forum in which any person with an
interest in the art and practice of photography can meet in a social
and friendly atmosphere to exchange views and opinions, talk to like
minded people about their interest and to show sociably and in
competition, their work.
Mike has been a member for over 38 years and has served as the Club’s
Treasurer for the past 36 years. In 2009, Mike has the honour of
serving as President of Bolsover Camera Club.
This season the club has won The
Derwent Trophy for the best panel
of slides from the North East Photographic Annual exhibition. In
previous years, the club has competed in national competitions winning
several trophies.
During the clubs current season, several competitions were held
internally, one of which is a monthly competition. In the most recent
of these held on March 13th, 2009 – Mike entered the colour
print of Florica Rostas (shown above) and it came in First
Place, beating 30 other entries.
This print will now be entered in the ‘Print of the Year’
competition and several other external competitions.
Watch for news update if Florica’s Print wins – there will be a
very special prize for her and a big surprise for Tileagd!
