A Special Report on the ‘2008 Smiles Charity Ball’, Ayr Scotland

Ann Cowan,
Smiles Development Associate for Scotland, organised her second consecutive annual ‘Charity Ball’ on September 27th 2008 in Ayr.

The Ball had two main objectives:
1. to make the work of The Smiles Foundation better known in the area and
2. to raise money to support the good work that Smiles is doing in Romania.

The Ball had over 120 people attending and raised more than £5,000 / $10,000 for Romanian projects. This money will be used for continuing the mission that Smiles has in Romania:  To Transform Lives through the Love of God.

The Romanian guests this year were Georgi Opreanu (Deputy Director of Operations in Romania), Ovidiu Butnaru (Pastor at Tileagd Church) and Nina Dandu (Accountant in the Leeds Office). All took the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for the material and spiritual support that the wonderful people of Scotland are giving for Romania.

They also gave an update of the work that Smiles is doing. The Tileagd Community Complex is finished and is now working to transform lives through church, education and medical care. We now need your help to continue the work that has been started and to see positive results in everything that we are doing. (See 400 Club to Help)

Somebody once said: “When a person does a good deed that he or she didn’t have to do, God looks down and smiles and says: “For this moment alone, it was worth creating the world.” I strongly believe that God looked upon Scotland that week-end and smiled a lot, when he sees people doing good deeds without waiting for recognition or applauds.

Thank you ‘Scotland’ very much for your generosity and for putting yourself in God's work through your time, prayers and financial support.
