March 1st is recognised as the first
day of Spring in Romania, but with temperatures reaching
20
C / 70 F this past week – Spring may have come a little early this
year!
The staff and pupils of Tileagd Community School – never wanting to
miss an opportunity to raise some extra funds for School – decided to
use their Art Class to make ‘Spring’ denoting clothing pins to sell
locally.
As a further step
to show the progress Smiles has made over the years with integrating
the Gypsy Community with the rest of Tileagd residents - the
children, accompanied by a couple of teachers, took their ‘pins’ to
Market and had a great response from shoppers.
By early afternoon, selling pins for just 20pence / 40cents – the
children had raised £27.66 / $55.32
With all supplies
sold, pupils and staff were very proud of their achievements.
Smiles were also very proud at seeing the integration process so far
advanced.
