The past
month had a couple of important and special events that have a major
significance for everyone who is linked with Tileagd Community School
and Nursery. At the end of October and beginning of November we had a
large group of mission trippers that visited us. This included our
Educational Adviser, Stephen Woodward together with a group of
teachers from Chesterfield and other UK cities that had the
opportunity to spend time at our facilities in Tileagd.
In order for our English colleagues to have a
clear and concise view
of the Romanian education system, we invited them to assist our
teachers in class. There were some great moments for everyone; pupils
had the opportunity to prove their skills, to show their academic
knowledge with several activities during the classes and
extracurricular activities. Teachers had the possibility to exchange
views and thoughts about methods and strategies used in the
teaching-learning process, and their efficiency in achieving the
proposed objectives.
Mandy Marriott, Head of a school in Derbyshire and assistant to the
Educational Advisor, offered her support in the links we have with
schools from UK and US. This is how we managed all together to create
the first newsletter from Tileagd Community School, which we hope to
be able to send to each school that supports us and we collaborate
with. Through this newsletter we will try to keep people updated and
informed about what we are doing. We hope to produce a Newsletter
each term – Winter, Spring & Summer.
The most important event of the past month was
our school and nursery reaching the end of the first level in
educational establishment success - which is the temporary
authorization received from the Minister of Education when a school
first opens. After 4 years of assessment and inspections we had to be
assessed for the next level - the Accreditation process.
In order to be accredited by the Romanian Minister of Education, the
department had to send three specialised people to asses and evaluate
us. On the 6th and 7th of November the
Accreditation process took place, and the assessment was very
involved, demanding and pressurising. They evaluated everything that
relates to quality in education: the teaching-learning process,
qualification of the staff, a well-equipped facility, security and so
many other professional aspects. More than that, everything had to be
proved with papers! Preparing for the Accreditation process has been a
very demanding and stressful period for the staff, both in the school
and nursery, but it was worth the effort because the evaluation
committee was more than impressed with everything they saw and
experienced here, and appreciated all the work that has been done till
now.
We passed the Accreditation Assessment and even
if we don’t have the certificate from the Minister yet, because of the
long procedures that need to be done by the authorities, the attitude
and appreciations that we received from them assure us that we will
have the final papers soon and a Certificate to proudly hang on our
wall.
Thank you to the many people across the world who have supported the
School and Nursery since we began in 2003. For your prayers, practical
and financial support. Not only do the staff and children appreciate
it, but now we have the official opinion from the Romanian government
– who appreciate your commitment also.
Praise God for His Goodness and Faithfulness through this long hard
process.
Soon we will celebrate another, even more
important event, Christmas. So children and teachers have started to
get prepared for the 2008 Christmas presentation which will be on the
17th of December. It’s going to be a special time, where
children, staff, parents, mission trip people will be able to rejoice,
because:
Christ is born!
