December started with a very special and important event for the
Romanian people, December 1st is the National Day of Romania.
For us, the citizens of Romania, it has an important significance
because it reminds us of a memorable day in 1918, when the ‘Great
Union’ took place.
The
activities developed in our school, during this period, were meant to
make pupils understand the major importance of the event. Each teacher
tried to make their pupils understand the importance of the day, as
much as they can at their age, and make them feel proud to be
Romanian.
We had a very successful event take place on December 5th, when during
a campaign for ‘Prevention and Control of Violence in families and
schools’ in collaboration with the Employment Department and
Women’s Union of Bihor, our school organised an essay contest. We
invited teachers and pupils from the Tileagd State School and pupils
from grade III and IV wrote essays on the theme: ‘A united family, a
wonderful child. Violence leaves you on your own.’ The best essays
were presented in front of all the pupils and guests, the authors
being rewarded with diplomas and gifts. In order for the activity to
be as attractive and educational as possible, pupils from our grade II
had an artistic input. In the end, all the children received gifts
from ‘Saint Nicholas’.
On the 15th & 16th December our
school was visited by a group on Mission Trip who were part of
CREATIVE HANDS FOR MISSION, Ardrossan Town. They came to us with
supplies and the desire to teach some of our pupils and many from the
Gypsy village how to make different things like bells, dolls and
Christmas tree decorations. Everyone was very excited, pleased and
tired at the end of the day, but happy for having the possibility to
learn all these new things.
December is the month when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. In our
school we tried to create a special environment, everything set up for
Christmas. The most attractive and exciting moment was the
Christmas presentation linked with the birth of Jesus. It was a
very beautiful presentation which ended up with Santa arriving and
bringing gifts for all the children. (Thank you SOS supporters!)
