Tileagd Community School & Children's Nursery Report

May has been a full month of activities in Tileagd for the
school and nursery. Every day has it’s own story, every person who is part of these two projects brings in with himself, his joy or sadness, but all together we try to build a brighter future for children we work with.

Even though we are only in May, we have already registered new children in the nursery for September, and for the moment, just for the 3 year old group we already have 16 children, half from the gypsy community and half from the Romanian community. We might still have a few coming in the next couple of weeks. The same thing is happening in the school where 14 of the children attending our kindergarten have been registered to start 1st Grade in September. There still might be other children wanting to join our school from outside, as anyone is welcomed! Our only challenge is sponsoring all the children who would like to attend. In this area, we are dependant on you – our kind and generous supporters who enable our school and nursery to function.

We are in serious need of more sponsors as we prepare for the new academic year. We know these are difficult times, but education is so important and we all know it is the main means through which these poor people can have hope of a better future. An education if but a dream for so many in Tileagd. You can make that dream come true!

Please sponsor a child now and give the Hope of Education.

During the visit of the recent mission trip, the school was given new playground equipment. We want to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank you very much’ to Brian & Jill McKee who made this possible. Their company ‘All-Play’ kindly made the equipment available and was transported from Northern Ireland on the recent Container.

It is great to see how children enjoy spending their free time outside on the playground equipment. They needed a place where to use part of their energy, and now they can do it. Maybe in time The Smiles Foundation will be able to enlarge the playground facility, so as a bigger number of children can enjoy it in the same time. But till then, we are more than thankful with what we have.

As we prepare this report, the 2009 Educational Challenge (Read Special Report)  is about to start at the end of May, and we are anxious to welcome our visitors. It is the third experience of this kind, and for us at the Tileagd Community School and Nursery, it is a great honour to be able to have professional teachers visiting our facility. It is our desire to experience as many new things as possible and make links with the schools that send teachers to Romania.

In three weeks we reach the end of the second term, and we are looking forward to start the summer holiday, but till then we are getting prepared for the school and nursery end of year Presentations. The children are very excited to present in front of their families and guests what they are learning. For our teachers it is requiring them to do the extra time with rehearsals and fun in the same time to see how children perform.

In the name of Tileagd Community School and Nursery, we want to thank everyone who supports us through any way. May God bless you all!
