Mariaís Report - April 2013

Oh happy day (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)
When Jesus washed
(when Jesus washed)
When Jesus washed
(when Jesus washed)
Jesus washed (when Jesus washed)
Washed my sins away (oh happy day)
Oh happy day (oh happy day)

Do you know this song?? The movie ĎSister Actí does it great!! I love it! And I love the words, the meaning of it! Indeed the most important day, in our life is when we realise that JESUS WASHED OUR SINS AWAY! When we realise this, it is indeed A HAPPY DAY!

Two of the most important decisions in life that we canít "play" with is the decision of following Christ and the decision over marriage! I took the first one on 12 September 1999. Now I have left the second oneÖÖbut itís not far away, 12 May 2013!

But before I tell you more about my wedding, and the plans in that "area", let me tell you what was happening on my desk this past month!!
A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor desk, was mobile for more than half of the month!!!

At the beginning of March I was away in America to work on the container. It was hard work but IT WAS FUN! I loved it!! My time away helped me to forget a little the stress over the wedding and letís be honest! I did what a woman likes doing most ... SHOPPING!!

I spent a lots of money but Iím sure and really believe Smiles (Sminro Retail Shops) will benefit from that very much!
I had great people helping me! Our trustee John Schawb had soooooooo much patience with me! THANK YOU JOHN!!!!!

Kevin Sharp and Alyssa Sharp, THANK YOU!! Alyssa Sharp is the young lady that had a dream, and her dream became reality after nearly 2 years! Thank you Alyssa for not giving up and thank you for everything you did!! There were others that helped and I do not want to upset anyone by forgetting! So, I would like to say thank you to Kathy Graham who drove a van all the way from Charlotte NC to Baton Rouge LA full with goods! Thank you Caroline DeSalvo and all the students at Bethany School. Thank you Mr Jonny Hoffman! For ALL the boxes that you put in the container for the Romanian people! GOD BLESS YOU ALL and everyone who helped from a distance sending supplies.

I came home on March 8th, but only for 2 days! On March 11th I flew to UK! Why? We had the annual Smiles Conferences! It was great for me to have Cornel, my fiancť, with me and Mr Hoy on this tour! For Cornel it was the his first time visit to UK and he loved it! He really loves and is happy to see so many people that are s
o committed to Smiles!! Now he can understand better what I do. Maybe one day he will work as my assistant :)
who knows !!!

I would like to say THANK YOU to ALL the Smiles D.A.ís and Smiles sponsors who are helping us month by month. It was great to see so many of you during the trip.

Once I got back home, this time for more than 2 days, the Mission trip season started!!!!!

Pateís Grammar School led by Lesley Jeanes was the first group that we had in Romania in 2013!!! We had a great week and lots of things happening! Iím always amazed to see young people with the desire of serving others. I want to say THANK YOU to all of the students from Pateís Grammar School for everything that they are doing for us. This time they blessed us with £7000 ($10,500), funds that they had raised before the trip! Amazing isnít it???

Once the Pateís team left, we had another one arriving! So now we are in the middle of true Mission Trip season!!....even if the weather in Romania is not that good for the spring time mood! Very wet and still quite cold. We hope Spring is coming soon or maybe we will just go straight to summer!

ÖÖSo my desk is "fixed" this month!!!

Iím focused on the work we do in Salonta at Joint Facility of Love and the Smiles day to day activity! Mr Hoy is leaving with Ritza and the teenagers from Tileagd on the UK tour, so while he is away the "stress level" is back on my shoulders! For me this tour that they go on, is the first one ever that Iím not involved with!!! Why? Because I could not postpone the wedding and I still have lots to do.
I pray for the team to have a blessed time! And for you, I encourage you to go to see and hear the news, their story! They have amazing things to tell you. LINK
TO TOUR SCHEDULE

So, please pray for us. Pray for the Smiles team that is travel
ling now to promote our work and pray for the team that is at home in Romania doing the work on the ground.

As for my wedding plans ... Itís coming on! Still have a lot to do, but thatís because I dream too much
:) Ö I now have only ONE MONTH TO GO!!! So even if Iím very nervous, Iím also excited about it! This past week I had a surprise party held by my colleagues and friends! It was such a shock because I did not know what was going on, and for me thatís a big problem, but Georgi, my friend and Smiles colleague, planned it SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOD together with Mr Hoy that I did not have a clue!! Anyway, I LOVED IT and I HAD A GREAT EVENING!!! Thank you Georgi THANK YOU girls!!!(you know who!)

So my dear friends, I can talk and talk and talkÖ..but I stop here.

THANK YOU for everything you are doing for us!!!!! BE BLESSED and be a blessing to others!

Love

Maria
