“Another
one is gone!”…
Well yes, we can
talk about another month, another day or another girl from the Smiles
Foundation that got married!
Last month I closed my
report telling you that I was in the middle of a mission trip and also
getting ready for Sarah’s wedding! I promised you that I would
send more pictures from Sarah’s wedding in Romania…so, Sarah and
Zoli had a reception here at the Cihei Mission Centre on April 10th
and we had a wonderful time and lots of fun! Please continue to pray
for Sarah & Zoli as they are at the beginning of their journey!

Soon after the mission trip with Pate’s School
finished I had another team arriving. The two groups were nice and
helped us greatly on the projects that we have every day
operationally. I remember one day, I went to visit an elderly home
with Pate’s team in Dumbrava! The man that runs this place
pleasantly surprised me with his faith in God and made me to feel
somewhat embarrassed. I got inside his “facility” – which basically
is his own house, transformed into an old people’s home- and I could
not stop crying! I tried to hide as much as I could but it was hard.
When Mr Pascu was asked by a member of our team: “what is your
need??” his reply was: “for me personally nothing, but for the
people here, a room where I can put them all together”.
I could not believe it! He is not running a charity or leading an
organisation, he is a simple man
that wants to help others. It is encouraging when you
see other people
helping their
“neighbours” without asking
something in return… I was very happy to see lady Domokos
eating her 2-course meal from a plate with
a spoon, knife and fork.
For those of you
that
remember the conditions that she was living in
and the process for
years that it took us to convince her to leave the
place will understand the full
picture.
Well, just 3 days after our social
assistant
Nelu,
moved them from the house into this “centre”, the room that they
lived in
for the last 10 years
collapsed!
It was amazing to
see our prayers for the last 7 years
answered! I do not have words to tell you the happiness that I
have now in my
heart regarding their situation.
I still
dream for the day when we have our elderly centre and will have them
all here!

Soon
after the mission trip finished, on April 18, office work was back
on top of my list again. Every day, different situations, different
needs, different challenges to face. Sometimes I’m wondering how
must Jesus have felt when He was on this earth and how was He
dealing with all of them. I know for a human being it’s hard, almost
impossible to make
it all work out, but with HIM I’ve learned that it’s not.
Everything is possible, we just need to keep our eyes looking up,
upon Him. Just to acknowledge that HE LIVES and because of that,
we can face tomorrow, and the next day and the next day!

The following weekend of April 24th, we
had another wedding in the Smiles Foundation. Our family doctor,
Dr. Claudia GOT MARRIED!
Can you believe that another one is
wed?? Well, the good news is that Claudia will not leave the country
or Oradea area, because her husband is from Cihei. But the bad news
is that our circle is getting smaller and smaller. I’m wandering who
is next ?!?!
Please pray for them too as they are at the beginning of a new
journey too and they need God’s help and protection. I had the
privilege to be their driver for the day! and I could not believe
when I saw how nervous they were all day but in the same time happy
because of their commitment to each other. One week before, I was
talking to Claudia and she was worried for her grandparents, her
father and Dacian’s mother that all have serious health problems and
I remember her saying that “the only wish she has is for God to
help them all to be there on this special occasion!” And guess
what?!?! God listened to her prayers and ALL of them were there,
celebrating the event and their commitment in front of God and to
each other!

So, what’s next? Well getting ready for another
mission trip experience; for two containers full of goodies from
Northern Ireland arriving in Cihei this weekend …in a few words
- getting ready for another life time changing experience! If you do
not believe it, feel free to come to Romania and see it with your
own eyes!! It can change your life and mine as well.

This week as we did the cleaning in the warehouse, getting ready for
the two containers, I still had a few things left from the previous
one, and I asked my team what to do with them, where to give them?
Who will really appreciate our gifts?
Cristina, called a friend that during December received clothes and
toys from us and distributed them to a Gypsy village near Bucharest
area! I was so happy that we could change their life and not only us
here but you with all the support that you send us in to the
containers! I attach the letter I received based on the support we
gave them in December and I’m sure that there will be another one
coming soon! So THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING
you are doing for the people of Romania!!
God bless you all!

I would like to close my report with
a song that I really like and because of Easter I’ve heard it many
times this past month! It’s an encouragement for me not only when
I’m feeling down, but also when I think that nothing can happen to
me, because I am HIS child.

God sent His Son - they called Him
Jesus,
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because Christ lives.
And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory - and I'll know He lives
|

BECAUSE HE LIVES we can face tomorrow, and life is worth the
living just because He lives!! Have a blessed month and can’t
wait to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Maria
