From Maria’s Desk … February 2010
|
Dear
Friends,
It is great to be back in touch with you. At the moment, as I write
the report for this month, I am in USA on the road with the Choir
from Tileagd Community. For the next 6 weeks we will share our story
with people in many different states, so please pray for wisdom,
protection and blessing from above! But before I tell you more about
the Tour, I would like to share the news that was happening in
January!
Even though we
had a short month, lots of things were going on in Romania as usual!
|
After returning to work
on January 4th, for the first two weeks we had the annual staff
assessments. Every day we had nearly 10 members of our staff coming
one by one to spend 30 to 45 min talking to us! It was an amazing
time. I heard things that I could never imagine I will hear in my
work. I really say THANK YOU to God for every single person that is
working in The Smiles Foundation. I thank them all for their passion
and hard work and for every thing that they are doing for their
neighbours – the Romanian people.

Then we had the Smiles Staff Conference day, where we all got
together and shared things that are within our projects. It was nice
to see all our 65 staff member all in one room, sharing the good and
the not so good things that happened to us in 2009! We gave all to
God and asked Him to take care of the Smiles projects, people, and
sponsors and everything. Our motto for 2010 is the bible verse Mr
Hoy shared in his speech to the Staff Conference that is in Luke
18-v.27:

Jesus said “what is impossible for men
is possible with God” |
Just 3 days after the
conference, we started the big journey of the year. Me with Ghiury
, Octavia and Mr Hoy together with the kids from the Tileagd Choir (Simona,
Aneta, Ghiurca, Cornel, Marinela, Roxi, Florica ‘G’ and Florica ‘S’)
got in the bus and started the trip to Budapest. Then we got the
plane to Paris, and from Paris, another plane to Atlanta......it was
a long one, but fun. Games, movies, sleeping made time fly! After 24
hours of travelling and once we got in the busiest airport in USA -
the real fun began! We missed the connection to Jacksonville FL, so
we had to wait for the f light
that could take 12 of us, and the only one that was available was at
11pm!! But we waited and we waited and prayed for a miracle! God was
listening to us of course.....The lady at the desk said she could
send 7 of us on the first flight that was available and 5 of us on
the next flight!! By 10pm, after 30 hours of travelling, we all got
in our rooms, able to sleep and thank God for His protection,
provision and love for us!!
I will tell you more about the tour on my March update, but please
continue to pray for us!
|
I
also would like to share with you something very personal that I was
told just 3 days after leaving Romania on this US tour with the
kids! If you remember in my January update, I shared with you the
happiness that we as a family had over the Christmas period when my
Granddad decided to give his life to God. Since that day he was
going with my family to church and he decided that at the next
baptism my dad will have him as a candidate too. This past Sunday,
the last day of January, as he was sitting in the church he had a
stroke! They took him to the hospital and they discover his right
side is affected! I don’t know more at this stage!! They did not
tell me! I would like to ask you to pray for my Granddad and for my
family!! And please pray for me too!
Please pray for God to give him days and for me to see him once
again on this earth!! Please pray for protection and healing! As I
was talking in the church service yesterday presenting the songs
that the kids sing, there was one song that really impacted me! I
was telling to the people that we all go through hard times in our
life, we all have problems, and face difficult moments, but what is
important is to give it to God as we “hide under His wings, and stay
there until the storm will pass!!” I did not imagine the next day I
will have one in my life!!
|
You know dear friends,
we never know what is happening to us in the next minute, so
important for us to get ready for the day when we see HIM face to
face!! I pray for you and for me to get there!
I leave you with the song the Choir now sing as a prayer for you and
for me!
|
Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand
CHORUS:
When the oceans rise
And the thunders roar
I Will soar with You
Above the storm
Father You are King
Over the flood
And I will be still
And know You are God
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust

Thank you for your
prayers … for me, my family, my Granddad and for Smiles!
THANK YOU!!
Love,
Maria
