HAPPY NEW YEAR
The holidays have come and gone
so fast. They always seem to do just that. I sincerely hope that
your holidays were full of all the things that matter most in life.
As December can be the busiest month of the year, it can be easy to
lose sight of how much we have been given and our responsibility to
share what we have with those who are struggling and suffering.
When we do share, it can be so easy to simply measure our
contributions in dollars and finance generally. But if you have been
to Romania and have spent time with the people we serve, you will
know that these families experience the impact of these
contributions not only in tangible ways, but also very intangible
ways, like love, hope and faith. While every dollar
of support to
Smiles is very much appreciated and is used with the utmost of
careful consideration and effectiveness, I believe the impact of the
financial support we receive can never be truly quantified. Just
know that these contributions are saving lives, giving hope,
rescuing people from despair and lifting those who cannot lift
themselves. What a tremendous blessing it is to be a part of Smiles
and to be connected with those who are supporting us.
As we look ahead to 2010, Smiles is at a very exciting and
challenging time. Many of you know that the economic conditions have
forced non-profit and missions organizations in Romania to close
their doors leaving the Romanian people feeling abandoned when they
need help most. All the while, the efforts and the impact of the
Smiles Foundation is growing and reaching out in more ways than
ever. Your support for Smiles in 2010 will allow us to continue our
history of changing lives and transforming communities.
Very, very soon, the
Tileagd Children’s Choir will be embarking on
their 2010 US Concert Tour. You do not want to miss the opportunity
to see these children in concert. They are walking testimonies of
how God has used and is using Smiles to transform lives. Be sure to
check the tour schedule and see when they will be appearing in your
area.
I cannot tell you how many people have told me that they are hoping
to go to Romania in 2010 as part of a
Smiles
Mission Trip. Many of
them have told me that after the first of the year, they are going
to start making decisions and plans. Well, the first of the year is
here. It is time to start putting those plans in
motion and
reserving your place.
Last month I mentioned that I will be leading
three teams this year: a sports camp in the summer, a construction
team in the Fall and a Christmas team in December.

As I mentioned, this is a critical year for Smiles. There are so
many ways for folks to be an integral part of our efforts this year.
