Enterprise Initiative
Third Phase
The
Glasshouse
Horticultural Project for Vegetables and Ornamental Flowers
The final
stage of our three phase Enterprise Initiative finally begins in earnest
May 2011.
Following
the launch of the Farm in June 2010 and the Retail Shops in November
2010
The Glasshouse after 6 months of
intensive planning and negotiation, is finally under Construction on
newly purchased land, adjacent to the Farm in
Arpasel (near Salonta)
North-West Romania.
The Contract for the Glasshouse Construction was finally agreed in
February 2011 with Bosch-Inveka Glasshouse Builders from Holland for a
cost of £175,000 / $271,250.
The Land was then purchased at a cost of £25,000 / $38,750 which was
secured in March 2011.
In May 2011, the Construction began. (See below)
We are now organising the extras needed for Production to start and we
dont have much time, as this 8 man crew from Holland and Poland, will
build the Glasshouse of 4,310 sq. metres (50,000 sq ft) in 6 weeks.
By July 9th the project should be complete!
Some of things we need to do:

Drill a Well 100m/300ft deep to ensure constant
supply of water for the Glasshouse. £6,000 / $9,300
A Water Tank for 75,000 litres / 21,500 US gallons for storage. £3,000
/ $4,650
A Pump House and Boiler Room to construct with an Investment of
£15,000 / $23,250
Then the finer details in the Glasshouse
Hosepipes, Air Compressor, Back-up Generator, Chemical Sprayer,
Glasshouse Trolly and Roof Safety frame to name but a few with an
Investment needed of £9,363 / $14,512

Finally, there will be Compost, Plants and someone to care for them,
someone to harvest the crop and someone to start the process all over
again!
The Glasshouse Project
is designed as a Socially Aware Company, established on a Christian
ethos, as with the Farm and Retail shops, wholly owned by the
Foundation. It provides employment opportunities in depressed rural
areas and will provide critical funds for the Foundation through
profitable trading to help support the many projects of the Smiles
Foundation in Romania.
In 2012, special advisors Paul and Alison Jeanes will move to Romania
to oversee the Management and Development of the Glasshouse and help
achieve its full potential.
We need support.
We need donors to help with the Capital and Operating budgets. Many
have already done so with Donations which can be Gift Aided in the UK
or Tax Deductible Gifts in America. Others have helped with loans at
0% or 5% yields, repayable over 3-10 years upon agreement.
