SMILES MEDICAL PROJECT

The cost of medication in Romania prohibits the majority of our families to buy the medication needed for treating sick family members. Often, the needs of the entire family to eat will be a higher priority than for the sick one to get treatment. We have too many examples of fatal consequences from a decision to save the £8/$15 prescription costs in favour of paying a bill or buying some food.

In April 2004, the growing demands of the Medical work necessitated an additional doctor. After much prayer, the Lord provided Dr Claudia Micula to assist Dr Ema with the Family work.

Both Drs’ Ema and Claudia have devoted their lives to serving the medical needs of the families within Smiles’ care. The Foundation needs to meet the annual budget for the doctors, covering Salary, Vehicle, Expenses, Clinic and Equipment. Current annual budget is £18,800/$33,840 and an expense account exclusively for Prescription medicine is needed to treat patients of £3,600/$6,480 a year.

If you can support our doctors to provide the medical needs to the old and sick of the poorest people in Romania, then please support this project.

SMILES SOCIAL/MEDICAL PROJECT IN TILEAGD

Angela Fetea joined Smiles in 2004 to assist the School and Nursery with the complicated task of administering the documentation of children, many of whom had no birth certificate or ID of any kind. As a qualified Social Worker, Angela was an answer to prayer for so many trying to organise personal matters.

After a year, in 2005, Dr Ema moved to Tileagd in response to a Call of God to serve the Gypsy Community on a more personal day-to-day basis.  Dr Ema needed help - a lot of it - and Angela joined forces with Ema to form the Social/Medical team. Margaret Biddulph also joined the team working with the community through Crafts and other ways of helping them earn a living.

The 3 woman team are committed to God’s Call in sharing His Love with the people of Tileagd through a Medical, Social, Educational and Spiritual means.
Please pray and support them in their efforts.

SMILES SOCIAL PROJECT

Jeni & MariusIn June 2003, The Smiles Foundation began providing Social Assistance to families with qualified Social Workers to help those within our Family Care project who were able to work, to find work and successfully apply for the opportunities available.

Many of our families are illiterate, which makes applying for jobs or even completing government forms for proper registration of children difficult and often impossible.

Our Social Worker Marius Pop are able to assist in these areas, often securing employment for those who can not read or write, due to proper completion of applications for work that has no need for literacy during the job. The Social Assistants are an important part of the team in Romania for helping to restore dignity for families wanting to work but needing some help to get the opportunity.
