A New Academic Year begins ….                                New Opportunities follow.
September 15th, 2008 was the day when children, parents and teachers were so anxious to begin the New Year!
			The first day brought with it so much excitement, especially for children that started attending school and nursery for the first time. For those 23 children - first timers - it was of course difficult to separate them from their parents or brothers and remain in a new environment with new people. In a similar situation were the 17 children that graduated our kindergarten in June, and now were starting their first year in ‘real’ school.
Our school has opened its doors for the 74 children, 6 teachers and 2 teaching assistants, and the nursery and kindergarten for the 68 children and 3 teachers. A total of 152 children! More than ever before! An exciting opportunity for The Smiles Foundation to impact the lives of so many children and their families.
			Everyone worked hard in order to prepare a lovely and well equipped environment so as we can encourage children to ‘want to learn’ and discover new things every day.
At both opening meetings in the school and nursery, the two directors, Clara and Delia, both passed on the same message: there is nothing more important for our school and us as parents, than the education of our children, and not just for academic learning, but also the importance of morals and to become a good citizen in an ever shrinking world! We can not achieve the best results unless both sides work together.
		All the staff from the school and nursery are committed at the beginning of this new term to fulfil the duty of acquiring knowledge and educating the 2008-2009 generation of children.  We were also very happy for the 9 children that graduated our primary school and are now in the 5th grade of the state school, the 5 children who are in 6th grade and the 2 children moving to the 7th grade. It’s a great encouragement for us to see the educational development of these children!
For the first year since the School was opened in 2003, we have our own Pastor at the Tileagd Community Church who visits and supports many programmes in the School. This year began with an Assembly – which Pastor Ovidiu led and it was a special moment for children and teachers to place the new school year before God and ask His blessings on everything that happens in the School. Weekly assemblies will now be held through the school year.
