The
dream of the Smiles Foundation was to build a new Community Complex to serve both
deprived gypsy communities and the Romanian community in Tileagd,
northwest Romania. The plans incorporate a purpose built Primary School
and Kindergarten, designed to hold 200+ children, combined with a Sports
facility, Medical Centre, Treatment Room, Dental Surgery, Optometry
facilities, Offices, and
Community Church. There will also be a wide range of Sports and Athletic
facilities at the Complex. We pray that the new complex will prove to be
the heartbeat of the community, generating life, energy, education and
opportunity, providing care that lasts a lifetime.
Smiles purchased the land in 2004 - and by the end of 2006, had invested
£447,000 / $894,000 into Phase One of the Complex - the Primary School and
Kindergarten, Shower Block, Kitchen, Dining Room and School Offices.
The
groundbreaking
ceremony on August 5th
was a very special occasion,
which marked
the dawn of a new and
exciting
era in
the history of this deprived community.
In June 2007, we started Phase Two which includes the
Gymnasium, Medical Centre and Church. The priority now is to raise a further
£260,000/$520,000 in order to fully fund this huge project.
With God’s help, we believe we can do it!
If 260 individuals or groups
(churches, schools, businesses, home groups, families, clubs and
societies) each raise £1,000/$2,000 the ‘dream’ will become
reality - and lives will be changed forever.
