EMERGENCY HOUSING UNIT
The building in the 2003
picture is as we purchased it, an abandoned building from what
had been the Communist Offices and Police Station
(pre-1989) under the former Communist State.
Smiles started a 3
year building programme which resulted in the initial facility, provid ing
shelter for families and individuals in need of protection from either
life on the streets or the horror of domestic abuse.
In 2016, an extension was completed which added two family en-suite
rooms
increasing our ability to assist more desperate
families.
The facility was first opened in May 2006.
Smiles employed Facility Managers, Petru and Maria Fule to both
oversee the
facility and provide critical support and counsel for the residents.
The ground floor of the original building provides the Safe House for
women and children suffering Domestic Abuse. The upper floor is a 3
bedroom apartment for the residential managers of the Emergency
Housing Unit to live in. The newer built extension provides 2 large
separate family rooms each with en-suite bathroom that can support
Domestic Abuse cases or families in simple need of Emergency Housing.
Please help with supporting our Operating Costs
which are £1,475 /
$1,920 per month.
