Report from Region 5 - Annette Charles
 At last the sun has
popped out through the clouds and dried up the rain, the wind has
calmed down and Summer may have arrived….for a short while anyway !
This is not the story I am getting from 2 friends (Liz and Geoff
Farrow) who are currently enjoying themselves in Romania. The
weather is much warmer and definitely the place to be. They have
returned to Romania for the first of their trips this year and have
been busy, along with others, tidying the warehouse and getting it
ready for the Summer Trips.
During their second week, they are joining
a regular Mission Trip; visiting families, helping out at the farm and
glasshouse and working in the shops. I am sure that Danny, in the
Tileagd School, will also have a visit or two from his friend Geoff.
We have at least 2
Church Leaders from our Region taking part in the Church Leaders
Conference in Romania in October this year. What an exciting time
they will have. working together and seeing first-hand the great works
being carried out in Romania by The Smiles Foundation in the name of
our Father. I am looking forward to their return so that we may get
together and plan the way forward in the South for continuous support.

Here in Worthing the fundraising is as busy as ever. Last month we
held a Curry Night with a difference…Elvis joined us and sang
his heart out for The Smiles Foundation. It was a fabulous evening
and a total of £300.00 was raised for Smiles to use towards a room
that our Region is trying to raise enough money for, to enable us to
sponsor within the Joint Facility of Love. Thank you to all who
came along and supported this fun evening.
Last Saturday we again hosted a
 Charity Fair
in Worthing town centre, in conjunction with Worthing Schools
Children’s Parade. This was our 5th year and as always,
proved to be a great day. The rain held off and although we had really
rough winds, we had a bumper turnout. 17 schools took part in this
successful event and 25 Charities joined together for the Fair,
raising around £600 for Smiles.
On a personal level I am really looking forward to December, I know we
 haven’t even had
our summer holiday yet, but I’m really excited as I am taking my 12
year old daughter to Romania for her first trip. She has met several
of the Team when they have stayed with us in Worthing and has helped
me at lots of fundraising events, so I thought she was now ready for
her own experience. Christmas will be a fantastic opportunity for her
to go out and witness the love of God at this very special time.
With a couple more Events lined up for the rest of the year I am sure
that we, in the South, will have a busy time raising the profile and
helping to keep the Smiles alive in Romania.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fundraise within our Region, or
would like me to help with any Events, please do contact me. I would
love to venture out of Worthing this year and travel around the South,
so please look at how you can fundraise in your city/town/village and
invite me along. I am also happy to come along and give a
Presentation or give my support to you, so please

all those going to Romania in the next few months a wonderful and
loving trip.
