April  2016

".....you did for me."

It’s Easter Monday as I write this. We have had a quiet, peaceful and reflective Easter, celebrating life and recognising God’s provision and goodness every day. I trust you had a good one too!

I have been reading some great devotionals over the past week which has been encouraging, challenging and humbling. It never ceases to amaze me how God has things mapped out for us.

He is God of the impossible. He sees something in us that others don’t see. He knows our needs and He has His agenda of what He wants to do with our lives. God knows what He is doing! God places us where He wants us with the gifts He has given us.

As we recognise and submit to that place, He pours out His blessing over and over again. There is where we grow, those around us grow and together our place becomes abundant with life and blessing.....because God puts us there. His planning is never wrong, it is what He does. He is the Creator of perfect things. If anyone is going to mess it up, it will be us!

This month I want to encourage everyone by sharing some amazing things that are going on to meet some very important needs in Romania.

We are packing a Container at the moment which will be leaving mid April packed with very valuable equipment for JFL2, as well as all the supplies to enable the everyday work to continue throughout all the projects.

Many, many volunteers are working together in different areas of expertise and interest, gathering up what we need. Many, many people are giving so generously of their time, resources and gifts to make a difference to someone’s life in Romania.

We are sincerely thankful to all our local transport companies who are partnering with us; moving loads around Northern Ireland and delivering to Smiles in Romania. This year ‘The Grassmen’ will go for the first time and later in the year ‘McBurney Transport’ will be helping us once again with a second load in 2016. We have been blessed with a gift of our very own Smiles Trailer from ‘Kernohan Dismantlers’ which will be delivered to us very soon.

Many companies have been so generous in helping us. We have 25 hospital beds for JFL2 donated from the Northern Health & Social Care Trust, brand new Mattresses kindly donated by Helping Hands. Moygannon Nurseries and Unique Garden Supplies have supplied us with beautiful Garden Furniture for the JFL Sensory Garden. Thompson Trust sent an unexpected gift of love to help complete the furnishing.

Individuals are buying beautiful gifts and essential supplies; some are knitting warm clothing for children, some donating lovely clothes of their own and of friends and family. Teams are packing boxes all across NI; Carland, Ballymena, Portrush, Ballymoney, Clough, Dungannon, Moy, Richill and more. Every day we have deliveries coming in.

The final packing of a Container requires muscles, time, love and care, as everything fits exactly in place. It is wonderful team work with so many people working so hard; so much love given. Every donation has a purpose; everyone is making a difference. Thank you, and please be encouraged!

My challenge is this ... can you help in any way? You might be reading this and thinking - "I could help with something. I want to help with something. I just need guidance in what best to do and to know I am contributing in making a difference."

We have 2 Containers leaving Northern Ireland this year as well as Vans regularly leaving from Leeds. Have you got something you can give to change the life of someone in Romania? Could you source, park and fill a Container? Could you form a group to pack boxes? Could you challenge your friends to collect items of good quality clothing or other essentials?

I have lists to guide you; I have a code for packing boxes of clothing. Maybe you can give advice or the name of someone who may be able to help us. There are so many ways to get involved. Keep telling your story, share your experiences and invite people to help us.

Call me and join in this great challenge!

It is simply humbling to see God providing exactly what we need. I realise that ‘He IS God of the impossible’. When He asks us to do something and we realise it is far beyond our limits..... He will provide! He will use us if we are willing. It is amazing to watch God work in hearts; bring the people we need with expertise and contacts, gifts of love, time and effort.

As I said at the beginning; ‘it never ceases to amaze me how God has things mapped out for us.’

Thank you for all your Fundraising events planned for this Spring-time. I wish you great success, please take pictures and let me know about your event. I will report on some next month. Call me if you need me and please continue to pray into the work and for all that we can do to be a part of it.

Matthew 25:40 "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
