Report from Georgi Opreanu,

Dreams come true

Wow! Big words! And for sure, you probably expect me to tell you a fairytale next, but no. I’ll tell you a tale, but a real one; because dreams come true in real life too! Why? Because we have a Real God who promised us "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this".

Sometimes you think that we may dream of something that appears impossible but only at the beginning because every dream has its own time to come true. It was hard for me to believe this so many times, but I dared to dream more and more.

Even since we opened the Joint Facility of Love in Salonta, I started to dream of many things involving this centre: some regarding the residents, some regarding the building. One of my dreams was that one day I’ll see the front entrance paved and beautifully arranged. But this was only a beautiful dream, because each time when we were close to fulfil, the priorities changed and so the money had to be used for other important purposes.

But I still hoped that my dream could become true one day, maybe when the Phase 2 will be finished. So I postponed my dream for next year and dreaming that one day I would see the old people walking and enjoying the beautiful area that surrounds the centre, an area which during the summer we can place a swing, some chairs and tables so our residents can enjoy the fresh air, the sky, the sweet song of the birds, the chatty crickets.

But what appeared to be just a dream this month became reality thanks to some wonderful people who were part of proving that dreams come true in real life too. It takes great love, kindness, hard work, courage and a big heart to do what these folks did for us at the Joint Facility of Love.

Every day, during a week, with almost 40 degrees outside, they worked unstoppable, inspired only by their love for God and their "neighbour" – who in this case, were the residents at the Joint Facility of Love. God really does have His own, special and wonderful time to fulfil your dreams, using special and wonderful people for it.

In the Bible, at one moment one man, who seeks Jesus to fulfil him a dream, a desire, said to Him… "If you can…". He still had doubts. But dreams come true when you believe! And Jesus’ answer is for all of us… "If I can’?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for one who believes." Every dream, every desire which is impossible, or just a dream to men through God becomes reality, becomes possible, true. So now we have a beautiful pavement at the entrance, which every time I see it, is reminding me to keep hoping that every dream can become true at any moment.

We are blessed to care now for 65 elderly in the 2 centres and in the first week of August, 5 new residents will be added to this big family. Unfortunately this month we lost 3 residents, two from Oradea, and one from Salonta. Lady Irina (that was in JFL) was just 69 years old, but she suffered Alzheimer for 7 years. She very rarely spoke with us, but she was wandering a lot, everyone loved her and I am so sorry that she is not with us anymore. Often she was coming in my office and just keep me company, no words, just a response to a smile from time to time…I will miss her and her wandering.

In Oradea centre we had a few residents in hospital, and one is for a long period now. We are concerned for her health, so please pray for her as she needs to get better in order to come back in the centre, but apparently no medication will help her get over the problems she has.

Of course we had a few birthdays and we were glad to be able to celebrate each of them. Also was Diana’s birthday, our doctor from Oradea. We are so blessed to have her on staff and I can’t thank God enough for her. She loves the elderly, she is very dedicated and will always go the extra mile to help those in need. We pray that God will keep her and give her everything she needs according to His will.

At the beginning of the report I started by sharing a dream…I have other dreams for the Joint facility of Love, even bigger than this and that dream is to see Phase 2 finished and operating!!! At times, that also seems an impossible dream, as many other dreams…but not impossible for my God. He will supply the means; He will stop the problems, or give us the solution. I don’t know how or when, but I pray for this dream of mine to become soon true.

I am thankful to God and to those that make my dreams come true, and in this way renewing my faith, that God has a time for everything…big or small dreams, for Him is important, because it’s important for us and He loves us and wants the best for us.

I will end my report with the words that is my ring tone when my alarms goes off in the morning:

"Many nights we prayed/ with no proof anyone could hear /in our hearts a hope for a song / we barely understood / now we are not afraid / although we know there's much to fear / we were moving mountains / long before we knew we could / there can be miracles / when you believe / though hope is frail / it’s hard to kill / they don't always happen when you ask / and it’s easy to give in to your fears / but when you're blinded by your pain / can't see the way, get through the rain / a small but still, resilient voice / says hope is very near, / there can be miracles / when you believe / who knows what miracles / you can achieve…when you believe!!!

Who knows…!!!

My special thanks go to Irvine Kane and Jackie McBride along with their amazing team of support workers and everyone that was involved in fundraising for this dream of mine to become a reality.

My God bless all your dreams and may in His time make them come true.
