Report from Georgi Opreanu, Director of Elderly Care

Pray for new beginnings

For all of you who could not make it to the
JFL 2 Grand Opening
, I want to tell you that we had two truly blessed days. We felt Godís presence there with us and we remembered that our Godís faithfulness is to the end,
it doesnít stop half way, but goes to the end of the days. Together with us we had friends from UK, America and Romania, all rejoicing in the goodness of our great God, who made all this possible. JFL 2 it is an amazing place .... a place where people are already discovering the love, care, joy and everything else they need as they move towards the end of their life here on earth.

We are now at the end of the first full operating month in JFL 2. It was a good month, but not an easy month. We had 9 new people coming in, needing special care because they all suffer dementia at varying stages. I can most certainly say I am blessed with great loving staff, but it is hard at times to care for this type of illness. It puts a lot of emotional pressure on the staff, so please pray for all the staff who are working with the elderly in our three centres.

We feel so blessed to have Larisa Poputa as a volunteer, starting this past month. She comes every day for at least 4 hours to help us where we need her. She gets involved in activities with the elderly, walking them in the park, getting groceries for them, helping even in the office. What I like most about her is that she has a serving heart, will never say no if she can help and always has a smile on her face. The residents love her and I pray that God will help her to come to us for a long time and bring smiles to all their faces.

A lot of things were happening after the opening in the two centres in Salonta: gardening, trips to the park, fun and many craft activities, Friday bible study, Sunday service at the local Church and in all those activities, elderly from both centres participated together and in this way they start to know each other. Unfortunately, some elderly from the dementia wing will not be able to participate in all these activities, because their condition will not allow them, but for them Rebeca organised special activities. We are still looking for a specialist therapist to work with them, but we did not find one yet, so please pray for that. Maybe we didnít find one yet, because we donít have sufficient funds to pay the right person, but I know God is in control and everything will be done in His timing.

This past month we had the oldest ever resident coming in
to the Oradea centre. Lady Ileana is 103 years old, but she is much younger in spirit. I asked her for her secret, and it was simple Ė she said, "enjoy life and do what gives you pleasure in life!"

A few months ago we had the Mayor of Oradea visiting our centre and at that point he promised us that by the end of May he will make sure our interior yard will be asphalted. To be honest, I wasnít too quick to believe that, because I knew he had other things on his mind and may forget about us. But I was wrong, a week before the end of month, they came for 2 days to work in our yard and he kept his promise. For us now, it is much easier to have access with the wheelchairs and frame walkers to the relaxation area. We are very thankful to the mayor and everyone involved for partnering with us in offering a good service to our residents.

We are still at the beginning of the dementia wing and I know there are many challenges ahead of us, so please pray for us, for our residents and for our staff.

My dear friends, this last month I realised once again that the prayers we make, God listens to them, in His perfect time. Many times "bad" things were happening, and I didnít understand why God is letting those things happen, but days, weeks, months even years later, I was able to see God's master plan. So please continue to pray for us, that all things work for the ultimate benefit of our residents.

I want to close this report thanking you all for the prayers, support, time and money that you give us whenever you can. May God be listening to all your prayers and provide all the needs you and we have!

With sincere thanks,

Georgi
