“It is not happy people that are thankful, it is Thankful people that are happy”
Throughout the projects here at Smiles in Romania there are many positive stories of people who grow in confidence as they receive support. One example from the Homeless Container Village is a lady, whom many of you will have met, called Florentina Lingurar.
She has been part of the community since it started over five years ago, having arrived from a small village in the countryside where she lived with her family. Unfortunately, it was a very difficult situation when she returned home as she was in a state run orphanage for most of her childhood and early adulthood, so she left her family and lived in an abandoned house away from them. There she became known to Nelu who manages our Family Care Project and then to Raul, head of the Homeless Project, and then Florentina moved to part of the Homeless programme.
Since then Florentina has become a key part of the day to day operations of the Container Village. Her responsibilities involve cleaning all the containers during the day time so that they are ready for the people who rely on them as a safe, warm place to sleep every night and can use clean showers!
She takes her duties very seriously and is someone Raul can rely on to complete them which is helpful to him. Moreover she does this on a voluntary basis which is a wonderfully selfless attitude. Please pray for Florentina, that she will keep her health and that she will know that the words of Numbers 6:24-26 are for her.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”
