“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
This verse is one that I am keeping at the forefront of my mind at the moment! Partly because it is great advice for everyday but primarily because during any tough situation, this is the simple way to come to God and move through those difficult situations, in His strength!
As many of you will be aware, Barbara Morrison, our Development Ambassador and Volunteer Co-Ordinator is very unwell and currently in hospital. Please can we all lift up Barbara, her husband Sam and all their family and friends in prayer. That they will experience this peace from the Lord! Also, let’s present our requests and petitions to God that Barbara’s health will be restored so fully and quickly that the Doctors will not be able to understand how and they will acknowledge God’s power and will in this situation.
With that in mind, I want to now follow Barbara’s example and highlight some of the fantastic fundraising efforts that supporters in various areas of the UK have been doing to create awareness and contribute vital funds, to the projects here in Romania.
• The willing volunteers who helped make the Coffee Morning in Caledon Presbyterian Church so successful! They raised £1,000 ($1,310) towards the Dezna Outreach Centre.
• Everyone at the Crossgar Family Barn Party who raised £766 ($1,000) which I’m sure was a fun time together!
• All the people who contributed to the Fashion Show in Worthing which raised £200 ($260) and a further £150 ($195) was raised from the raffle for Chloe Hoskins costs of her 6-month internship here in Romania.
A huge thank you to everyone who worked hard to do all this! Your support is a vital factor in continuing the work for the Lord through Smiles throughout Bihor county. Please keep faith with the work, as it grows and develops according to God’s Will, there is always more to his plan and he reveals it when we are ready to hear it and then we must act! Then we have to respond and do what we can to put it into action. Your fundraising efforts past, present and future are vital to this. May God bless you all for your support and efforts!
Lastly, here are some words from Hannah Davidson about her time here over the last 5 months:
“My time with Smiles has been very enjoyable! The staff have been very kind and helpful to me and it has been wonderful to spend more time with them as they work with the people in the projects who like them and are thankful to them for all their hard work to help them.
One of the many highlights of my time has been spending more time in Salonta, at JFL, with the elderly and the people with disabilities. We enjoyed crafts, activities and games together all the time. I would recommend that people come here to experience and see all the projects Smiles runs.”
These are just some examples that are inspiring, perhaps it has brought an idea for a fundraiser to mind, or you feel that now is the time for you to see the projects first-hand? Please don’t hesitate to contact us via the details on our website or e-mail us your interest and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible.
May God bless you as you work for Him in His strength.
