A Letter from Maria's Desk - March 2015

Sovereign Over Us

I love the song from Michael W. Smith with the same title! The chorus says:

Your plans are still to prosper
You have not forgotten us
You're with us in the fire and the flood
You're faithful forever
Perfect in love
You are sovereign over us.

What a great encouragement to know that God is watching over us daily!  He is sovereign over us, His children.

Over the past month I saw Godís sovereignty over me in everything I did! I am just back from the UK tour and Iím overwhelmed with the response we received everywhere we went. Godís love, blessings over us, more than I could ever imagine!

But letís start from the beginning with telling you how the month went. I left you in my last report with a surprise note!!! Did you wonder what it was? No, Iím not expecting a baby! Not yet! You still have to pray for that and Iím sure that God will bless us one day with kids. Until than we pray and wait!

But the surprise that we worked on a special WORSHIP CD Ėmade by Smiles staff.

Itís called H.O.M.E. to Romania!!!! With this CD we want to encourage people to come H.O.M.E (Hands on Mission Experience) and see the Smiles projects!!!! It is also a fundraising tool for us, so every person that buys a CD is helping the Smiles Projects in ROMANIA!! If you want to help us, this is a great way to do so!

Order your copy from us and we will make sure you weíll get a CD to you as soon as possible. You will LOVE it!!!

So, during January we worked a lot on it! ÖÖbut the hard work was rewarded once the CD was finished and released. I would like to say THANK YOU to my colleagues that worked on it, to Mr Hoy who believed in us and to Adi for his work on the tracks. Also to Gabi Baruta, our engineer and to all the people behind the scenes that made this dream possible.

February we were very busy rehearsing and getting ready for the tour. In between the rehearsal and the preparation for the tour I did all the other work that I love doing!

My Tileagd Craft project is going great! I love the time I spend with the ladies! Each week we try to learn to do different things. My dream is that one day we will be able to open a small shop where we sell all the things we make! Please pray for my ladies and if you can support them with £5/$5 a month, please do so!

This will help me to continue the project and make sure the ladies will have an income each month. Before I went on the tour, I managed to have nearly 100 pieces of handmade pictures on canvas! They sold great on the tour and soon we will have a page on our Facebook account and Website where you can buy them. If you have any questions please write to me an e-mail and I will give you an update on it!

But this month I did not have only happy things going on!! A sad experience from this month was when Iíve got a phone call from my colleague Georgi and she told me that one of our ladies from the ECO Centre died. Maria Rosu, a very special lady that came in our centre 2 years ago. She was a great encouragement for me all the time. I will never forget the days when I had my office window open and she was singing. She always worshipped God and she prayed for us here at Smiles. One of her favourite songs was "I want to stay close to God all my life!". Together with Nelu the manager of the family care project, with Mioara the social assistant at the elderly centre and with Georgi - we sang this song at her funeral!! That was the way that we said good bye!

Life is short. More and more I hear news of people dying. Is not about the age, but when God calls you home! We just need to be ready! I pray for each of us to be ready to spend eternity with HIM.

So back now on the UK tour. Iím sure you would like to know a little more about it.

On 26th February me and 6 other colleagues left Oradea. Our first stop was Belfast in Northern Ireland where we had 3 presentations. After Belfast we went to Dungannon and then Randalstown. Each presentation was amazing. I love the people of Northern Ireland. I love their commitment to Godís work all over the world and I appreciate what they do for us here in Romania.

Once we finished in Ireland we moved across to Scotland. This place was always a great encouragement for me. I remember when I came first time in Dalmellington 10 years ago. Their welcome to us was amazing. I will never forget when I saw kids that came from poorer families than we worked with in Romania, giving their lunch money to the kids from Tileagd! Even if 10 years has gone by, these "kids" are still with the same heart. Iím thankful to God for each of them!

From Scotland we moved into England and then in Wales. Amazing presentations and we saw Godís blessings over us each and every time.

I would really like to say a SINCERE THANK YOU to ALL the people that made this tour possible!! May God bless you and may you continue to be a blessing to His kingdom!

The last night, before we came home, we had a lovely surprise!

If you remember I told you in my last update that I pray for "God to find a way where there seems to be no way" Well HE DID! God gave me one of the nicest gifts that I could imagine. I was able to see two of my friends, David and Davinia, even if it was for a short time. They brought us a fantastic supply of clothes and supplies for Romania.

We as human people say things at times that we regret, but it might be too late to take it back. Iím glad that God gives us chances to repair things.

So do not forget - God is sovereign over us and HE loves us so much that each day from Him is a gift! Letís appreciate it!

Be blessed,

Maria Hava ,
